Fundamentals exams
FE exams
The following information applies to all FE applicants.

Eligibility

The Pennsylvania board does not require examinees to submit an application or an additional fee prior to registering with NCEES and scheduling an exam as long as the education information provided during the registration process meets the board’s requirements.

Examinees will be provided one attempt per testing window and no more than three attempts in a 12-month approval period, beginning with the examinee’s first attempt. Examinees who require more than three attempts or allow their 12-month approval period to expire must contact the board directly to obtain additional approvals.

Results

Exam results for the computer-based FE exams are typically available within 7–10 business days. Examinees will receive an email notification from NCEES with instructions to view their results in their MyNCEES account. Results will include a link to your licensing board for additional state-specific information or instructions as appropriate.

All results are reported as pass or fail. If you fail the examination, you will receive a diagnostic report showing your performance for each of the major topics covered on the exam.

Cancellations and refunds

Refer to the section on computer-based exams in the NCEES Examinee Guide for information about cancellations, refunds, and rescheduling.

How do I register?

All applicants
All applicants must be approved by the Pennsylvania board. Each time you plan to sit for an exam, you must do the following:

  1. Register online with NCEES (deadline: February 19, 2015). Select your exam and site through your My NCEES account.
  2. After registering with NCEES, board-approved applicants should schedule the exam with PCS and pay the exam fee to PCS by the PCS scheduling deadline.

First-time applicants
First-time PE applicants can find more information on the PCS website.

If you have questions about the exam approval process, contact PCS or the Pennsylvania board.

Exam type, discipline, module, and/or site cannot be changed after the NCEES registration deadline (February 19, 2015). PCS cannot make any exceptions. Visit the PCS website for more information.

Exam authorization

NCEES will email PE, PS and SE exam authorization notices. PCS will mail state-specific exam authorization notices approximately 2–3 weeks before the exam. Read everything carefully. You will be required to present these documents along with a valid, government-issued photo ID upon arrival at the exam site. Your exam authorization notice will include the exam location, start time, seat assignment, and any parking information.

All results are reported as pass or fail. If you fail the examination, you will receive a diagnostic report showing your performance for each of the major topics covered on the exam.
