NCEES announces winners of 2024 NCEES Surveying Education Award

Idaho State University College of Technology receives $25,000 grand prize

NCEES is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2024 NCEES Surveying Education Award. This annual award recognizes surveying programs that best reflect the organization’s mission to advance licensure for surveyors in order to safeguard the health, safety, and welfare of the public.

NCEES awarded the Idaho State University Surveying and Geomatics Engineering Technology Program the $25,000 grand prize. The award jury praised the program for its strong online program and outreach efforts. Jurors considered criteria such as student outcomes and involvement, outreach and recruitment, and the promotion of licensure.

NCEES Surveying Education Award juror Coleen Johnson, R.P.L.S., stated, “We had an incredible group of entries for this year’s competition. After thorough discussion and consideration, it was evident that Idaho State University’s program had earned the grand prize. Idaho State has a strong online program, and the faculty push for student involvement within the profession is commendable.”

The award jury of NCEES members and representatives from surveying societies met virtually June 11, 2024, to select the winners. The prizes were awarded to qualifying programs to assist with each program’s continued efforts to promote the importance and value of surveying licensure.
