2025 Award Recipients

The Meritorious Service Award recipients have made outstanding contributions to NCEES and provided outstanding service as member board staff.

Andrew Ritter

Andrew Ritter, executive director of the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors, has been awarded the NCEES Meritorious Service Award for his dedicated service to NCEES and the engineering and surveying professions. Ritter was recognized on August 21, 2025, during the organization’s 104th annual meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Ritter has served the North Carolina board for 28 years. He has demonstrated leadership through service as a member of the NCEES Advisory Committee on Council Activities, the Committee on Finances, the Committee on Member Board Administrators, the Evaluation of Applications Task Force, the Financial Reserves Task Force, and the Licensure Qualifications Oversight Group. Additionally, he has served as chair of the NCEES Committee on Finances from 2023 to 2025 and the Committee on Member Board Administrators from 2013 to 2014. Ritter continues to demonstrate his leadership through his involvement with zone meetings, his attention to law enforcement issues, and his recent trip to the United Kingdom as a U.S. engineering state board member for the historic negotiations between the United States and the United Kingdom for a mutual recognition agreement.
