Beckett Johnston begins term as NCEES president

Elizabeth Beckett Johnston, P.E., began her term as 2025–26 NCEES president at the conclusion of the organization’s annual meeting, held August 19–22 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

A resident of Fairbanks, Alaska, Beckett Johnston is an emeritus member of the Alaska State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors. She replaces outgoing president Andrew Zoutewelle, P.L.S., of North Carolina, who will remain on the NCEES board of directors as immediate past president.

At the annual meeting, Council delegates elected Samuel Wilson, DBA, P.E., of the District of Columbia, as president-elect for the 2025–26 term. Wilson will serve as NCEES president in 2026–27.

NCEES welcomed Azuanuka (Azu) Etoniru, P.E., P.L.S., of Massachusetts, and Chimin (Jimmy) Chao, P.E., of South Carolina, to its board of directors as well. Etoniru will serve a two-year term as vice president of the Northeast Zone, and Chao will serve a two-year term as vice president of the Southern Zone.

Two members serving second years of their terms are Jason Suelter, P.E., S.E., of Nebraska, returning as Central Zone vice president, and Aaron Blaisdell, P.L.S., of Washington, returning as Western Zone vice president. Rounding out the board of directors is Karl Tonander, P.E., of New Mexico, returning for the third year of his term as treasurer.
