Project: ERIE M3: Building the K–12 Engineering Pipeline Through Public Health, Safety, and Environmental Stewardship
The ERIE M3 Challenge (Environmental Responsibility through Innovation and Education: Measure, Monitor, Mitigate) is a high school competition led by Gannon University that engages 11th and 12th grade students in solving real-world environmental challenges affecting public health, safety, and welfare. Working with faculty, industry professionals, and licensed professional engineers, student teams apply science, data, and innovation to develop practical solutions to issues such as water quality, stormwater management, waste reduction, and energy sustainability. Throughout the competition, students gain hands-on experience while learning about engineering design, professional responsibility, and the importance of engineering licensure. The program aims to strengthen the K–12 engineering pipeline while fostering environmental stewardship and preparing the next generation of engineers and STEM professionals.
