NCEES wants young engineers and surveyors to help shape the future of licensure
NCEES is launching an Emerging Engineers and Surveyors Group. The group will connect young engineers and surveyors with NCEES decision makers to
- Provide feedback and discuss topics concerning the licensure process
- Discuss topics relevant to the future of the engineering and surveying professions
“The paths to licensure for engineers and surveyors have changed considerably in the last century,” NCEES President David Widmer, P.L.S., said. “NCEES and its member licensing boards continuously work to improve the process. This group is part of those efforts.”
Applications for the 2015–16 NCEES Emerging Engineers and Surveyors Group are now being accepted. To apply, you must be 35 years of age or younger at the time of appointment and meet one of the following requirements:
- Full-time senior engineering student
- Full-time senior surveying student
- Certified Engineer Intern (E.I./E.I.T.) or have passed the
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
- Certified Surveyor Intern (S.I./S.I.T.) or have passed the
- Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) exam
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.)
- Licensed Professional Surveyor (P.S.)
The group will consist of 12 members and include at least one representative from each participating category listed above. Engineering and surveying students must be enrolled full-time (12 or more hours) and have achieved senior status at the start of the fall 2015 semester.
Members of the NCEES Emerging Engineers and Surveyors Group will serve a one-year term, beginning in August. The group will participate in two focus groups and one general meeting. Focus groups will take place during NCEES annual meetings. Group members will attend an NCEES board of directors meeting immediately following the focus groups and will be invited to extend their stay and attend the rest of the annual meeting. NCEES will fund all travel-related expenses.
Participation in the Emerging Engineers and Surveyors Group will provide members the opportunity to work with leaders of NCEES and its member licensing boards to shape the future of the engineering and surveying professions and the licensure process. NCEES will recognize group members and their efforts throughout the year through social media, the NCEES website, news releases, and national publications.
Applications must be submitted online by April 1, 2015.
