Mechanical Engineering

What are your career goals?

My career goals are to graduate with my Mechanical Engineering degree and work in the oil and gas industry gaining hands-on experience that will help me design and improve equipment and products.

Do you have any areas of interest specific to your discipline?

I’m most interested in oil and gas and manufacturing. I enjoy learning how things are made, how materials behave, and how designs translate from drawings to real parts. I like work that combines design, problem-solving, and being able to see and touch the final product instead of only working behind a computer.

What is one piece of advice you have for fellow engineering students?

Don’t stress about having everything figured out right away. Say yes to opportunities, internships, and projects even if they’re outside your comfort zone. Some of the best learning happens when you’re hands-on and figuring things out as you go.

What has been your favorite engineering course and why?

My favorite engineering course has been Manufacturing Processes because it felt the most real-world. I liked learning how parts are actually made, the limitations of different manufacturing methods, and how design decisions affect cost and production. It really connected engineering theory to what happens in industry.

Which clubs, campus organizations, and activities do you participate in?

I’m involved in several organizations, including SWE (Society of Women Engineers), LES (Louisiana Engineering Society), ASME (The American Society of Mechanical Engineers), and I’m an Alpha Delta Pi Alumni. Being part of these groups has helped me build connections, learn from other engineers, and get more involved on campus outside of the classroom.

What are you most looking forward to gaining from being an FE ambassador?

I’m looking forward to helping other engineering students feel more confident about the FE exam and the licensure process. I want to be someone people can ask questions to without feeling overwhelmed. I’m also excited to build leadership experience and connect with students.
