What are your career goals?

I want to work in the civil engineering industry and soon take the PE exam and register for licensure.

Do you have any areas of interest specific to your discipline?

I have an interest in structural engineering. I want to understand how a structure functions to provide a safe, efficient, and useful component to buildings.

What is one piece of advice you have for fellow engineering students?

Always strive to leave your comfort zone. Get out into the professional environment, meet new people to add to your network, build good professional relationships, and always learn something new whether that be in class or at an event.

What has been your favorite engineering course and why?

My favorite engineering course so far has been Codes, Loads, and Nodes, where we learn about the codes that govern the design of structures, load paths, and the nodes that transfer loads between members.

Which clubs, campus organizations, and activities do you participate in?

  • COE Ambassador
  • Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE)
  • NSBE
  • SWE

What are you most looking forward to gaining from being an FE ambassador?

I look forward to promoting the importance of licensure and funding my education with the stipend. It is great when you can advocate for something you see as important while also getting funds.

What would you say to someone who is thinking of applying to be an FE ambassador in the future?

It is a great way to promote licensure and inform other students of the opportunities, facts, and dispel myths.
