What are your career goals?
My goals are to graduate with a biomedical engineering degree and pursue a career designing medical devices. I hope to work hands-on with the research and development of new medical innovations. I see myself working as a clinical engineer or a design engineer in this space.
Do you have any research areas of interest specific to your discipline?
My passion is to help people see the gift of movement, and hope to be in a position to be able to restore it to people’s lives. I am specifically interested in working in orthopedic devices or prosthetics.
What is one piece of advice you have for fellow engineering students?
My biggest piece of advice is to say yes to every opportunity that comes your way without worrying about how you will do it. You can figure out how you will do it when you are in the middle of it
What has been your favorite engineering course and why?
My favorite engineering course has been biomaterials. It is interesting to learn about how humans have come up with simple ways to describe material properties. With this, we can find materials that mimic our bodies.
Which clubs, campus organizations, and activities do you participate in?
I have been a part of the women’s basketball team on my campus for the past 3 years, but decided to not take my last year of eligibility due to injury. With my new found free time I am excited to get more involved with engineering organizations, be a teacher’s assistant for the Introduction to Engineering course, and run a marathon in December!
What are you most looking forward to gaining from being an FE ambassador?
I look forward to gaining a better understanding of how to network, and be able to pass that on to my peers.
