What are your career goals?

Pursuing my MBA after getting my undergraduate degree, working as a Process Engineer for 5-10 years, then pivoting to Consulting or Engineering Management.

Do you have any areas of interest specific to your discipline?

I have a passion for environmental sustainability and health and safety. So, everything from proper disposal and containment, risk management, environmental remediation, process controls, and renewable energy catch my interest.

What is one piece of advice you have for fellow engineering students?

Your coursework is made to give you a strong technical foundation, but your ability to confidently present yourself and your findings to interviewers and decision makers is equally, if not more, important. So even while busy with schoolwork, don’t forget to make time to practice your public speaking, interview, and networking skills. Your personal brand depends on it!

What has been your favorite engineering course and why?

Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics! My professor at the time had been teaching for 30+ years and was very good at making sure that the information we needed to know was given to use in a digestible format, along with being very personable in lectures and office hours. It’s also the engineering course I performed best in!

Which clubs, campus organizations, and activities do you participate in?

I’m a part of many clubs and organizations across campus, including the National Society of Black Engineering (NSBE), the American Institute of Chemical Engineering (AICHE), the Undergraduate African Student Organization (ASO), the Chem-E-Car team, the Stem Path to the MBA Program (Honors College), the Capstone Center for Student Success (BRIDGE Program) and Intramural Sports.

What are you most looking forward to gaining from being an FE ambassador?

Increasing the resources my university has to help students purse the FE exam earlier and with more confidence.
