What are your career goals?
I am an aspiring structural engineer. I have a passion for buildings and their potential to make a positive impact on others.
Do you have any research areas of interest specific to your discipline?
I really care about the environment and sustainable development. I think adaptive reuse and historic preservation are particularly interesting. A concept I recently came across that I want to explore more is neuroarchitecture which blends neuroscience and building design.
What is one piece of advice you have for fellow engineering students?
Curiosity goes a long way and makes learning so much more fun! Find ways to get excited about what you are learning, and you’ll start to see the incredible impact of engineering all around you!
What has been your favorite engineering course and why?
My favorite engineering class so far has been thermodynamics. I found it difficult, but I grew through the challenge, and I enjoyed learning how thermodynamics is all around me. Now I can’t help but think of thermo in my day-to-day life, especially while cooking. I also simply enjoyed going to class because the professor was an excellent teacher.
Which clubs, campus organizations, and activities do you participate in?
College of Engineering Ambassador Program, Structural Engineers Association of Kansas and Missouri (SEAKM), Women in Engineering, Christian Challenge
What are you most looking forward to gaining from being an FE ambassador?
I am looking forward to informing my peers about the FE exam and being a helpful resource to connect them with tools and inspire them to be confident in their ability to pass the FE exam.
