Sievers begins term as NCEES president

Laura Sievers, P.E., began her term as 2023–24 NCEES president at the conclusion of the organization’s 102nd annual meeting, held August 15–18 in Boston, Massachusetts.

A resident of LeMars, Iowa, Sievers serves as a member of the Iowa Engineering and Land Surveying Examining Board. She replaces outgoing president Christopher Duhamel, P.E., P.L.S., of Rhode Island, who will remain on the NCEES board of directors as immediate past president.

At the annual meeting, Council delegates elected Andrew Zoutewelle, P.L.S., of North Carolina, president-elect for the 2023–24 term. Zoutewelle will serve as NCEES president in 2024–25.

NCEES welcomed Karl Tonander, P.E., of New Mexico; James Kelly, P.E., of Virginia; and Samuel Wilson, P.E., of the District of Columbia, to its board of directors as well. Tonander will serve a three-year term as treasurer, and Kelly and Wilson will serve two-year terms as vice presidents of the Southern Zone and Northeast Zone, respectively.

Rounding out the board of directors are two members serving second years of their terms. Jan Bostelman, P.E., PMP, of Nebraska, returns as Central Zone vice president, and Mohammad Qureshi, Ph.D., P.E., of California, returns as Western Zone vice president.
