The Massachusetts State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors is excited to again welcome NCEES to the greater Boston area. Massachusetts was proud to host the annual meeting only two short years ago at our new and growing Seaport area, and we are again excited to host you along the Charles River, across from our scenic Back Bay and very close to our world famous HAVARD YAD. You had the opportunity to see Boston in the summer, and you’ll now have the chance to enjoy it in the spring, where we hope you’ll enjoy our many historic locations on the northern side of the city and in close proximity to Boston Garden for the Bruins, who will be home on April 1o, and the World Champion Boston Celtics, who will be home on April 11.

The host hotel, The Royal Sonesta Boston, is nestled beside the picturesque Charles River. It provides an ideal starting point for your explorations of both Cambridge and Boston, where you can sink into the city’s top experiences with TD Garden, MIT, and the Museum of Science within close proximity.

Registration

Delegate registration fee: $450 for delegates, which includes Thursday’s welcome reception; Friday’s breakfast, lunch, and evening event; and Saturday’s breakfast. The registration fee will increase by $50 after February 24.

Guest registration options: There are two registration options for guests. Registered guests may add a ticket for the guest activity for $57 (discounted to $48 for adults 65+) or Friday’s lunch with delegates for $100 (NCEES’ cost for these events).

The registration fees will increase by $50 after February 24.

  • Evening events and breakfasts: $440, which includes the two evening events plus breakfasts on Friday and Saturday

Registration process

The method used to register depends on whether you are funded by NCEES to attend the meeting. All NCEES-funded attendees will receive a special invitation via email containing detailed funding information and an individualized link to register.

Online registration should only be used by delegates who are not funded by NCEES. If your board has not yet named its funded delegates, you may wish to wait to register. Check if your board has already named its funded delegates.

Funded delegates should allow one week after your board has submitted the notification form to receive your invitation. If you have not received an invitation and feel you should have, email [email protected].

Registration will open in mid-January.

Meeting and event details

The NCEES zone interim meetings are held each spring. The primary purpose of the meeting is for representatives from the member licensing boards to hear and discuss reports from the NCEES board of directors, CEO, standing committees, and task forces. The work of the committees and task forces results in motions that will be presented for Council vote at the annual meeting in August. Zone meeting delegates can ask questions and discuss possible annual meeting motions, and they are encouraged to take information back to their boards for further discussion. Additionally, delegates will provide individual board updates, elect a zone vice president and assistant vice president, and select a nominee for NCEES president-elect (election to be held at the annual meeting in August).

Friday luncheon with guest speaker

Delegates will break and enjoy lunch with a special guest speaker. Guests may choose to have lunch with the delegates for $100.

Guest activity: Boston Duck Boat Tour (optional; register and pay in advance)

$57 per adult or $48 for adults 65+

Enjoy an 80-minute entertaining guided tour of Boston in a World War II-style amphibious landing vehicle that can travel on land and water. Guests will cruise by many iconic Boston locations, including the golden-domed Massachusetts State House, Boston Common, the historic North End, and Quincy Market. Then splash into the Charles River to see the beautiful Boston and Cambridge skylines. A must-do tour!

Guests will meet in the hotel lobby and walk 0.4 miles to board the vehicle in front of the Museum of Science. This is not a private tour. NCEES will secure tickets on the public tour for those registered by March 11.

Friday evening event: Private Reception Cruise on the Charles River

A private reception cruise will be held on the Charles River on Friday from 6:00 and 8:00 p.m., where we will enjoy a cruise on the Charles River Boat Company’s ship the Lexington. We will board at 5:45 p.m. at the dock 0.1 miles from the hotel and take in the spectacular scenery of Boston and Cambridge from the serene waters of the Charles River. Delegates and guests will enjoy a reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres and hosted bar while watching the sun set majestically over the great cities of Boston and Cambridge.

Business casual attire is appropriate for all meetings (for example, polo shirts, blouses, slacks, skirts, khakis, or dress pants).
